Have just visited Paris to celebrate the birthday of my friend, “Formerly Wimbledon”. She was celebrating turning 26. I was there with seven of her female friends, and two male friends of one of her friends. At one stage it was me and eight girls in a bar!
The purpose of the trip was to drink and to celebrate, but I still managed to do some sightseeing. However, my ambition to go to Versailles did not happen. I am sure they’ll be other chances in life to go. Hopefully, on a nice sunny day. The weather in Paris was mostly OK. It was pleasant in terms of temperature, and not freezing at night - even at 3am. However, it was cloudy and there was rain.
This was the second time I have been to Paris in my life. The first was a school trip where I got to stay with a French family, celebrate - what I guess must have been - my twelfth birthday, and do much of the sight-seeing. This time around I tried to visit the places I did not remember (or do) from the previous time. So I visited the Notre-Dame, the Pantheon, and the Bastille. I took a walk through the Jardin de Luxembourg and walked the Champs Elysee. When my feet got tired, I walked some more and blistered my toes. I tried my hardest to get the perfect photo of the Eiffel Tower (and failed miserably), and I revisted La Defense and the Sacre-Coeur.
Paris is an amazing city, and if I ever go back again then Disneyland and Versailles would probably dominate my time. I think to judge France by Paris, is to judge England (or the UK) by London. Paris is amazing and it offers so much - but it is not for me. I can appreciate it, but I cannnot love it.
