Pool and diet Pepsi

Played some pool this evening, with T. There were no snooker tables available when we arrived at 19.40

The standard of our play was variable, but having honed our skills on the snooker table (with smaller, lighter balls, and smaller, less accepting pockets) the pool table always seems that much easier. The way the frames went was very interesting too. I threw away the first frame by somehow managing to pot the black. Then it went 1-1, then 2-1 to T, then 2-2. All very good. T pulled away to a 4-2 lead, and then over the next 7 frames, I won 6 making it 8-5 to me.

The final 5 frames would prove to be very costly. I lost three of them on the black (two where I really should have sunk the black ball), and lost another by potting the black again. So I lost 10-8 overall.

I blame my demise on the amount of diet Pepsi drank. I was playing averagely on the first pint of the stuff. During the half-pint in the middle (accompanied by a packet of crisps), I was in amazing form and had the complete rub of the green (well blue) as balls bounced in all over the place. However, on the final pint my game deteriorated and I noticed a gradual feeling of light-headiness - on top of that I was starting to feel the heat (of the room, and the pressure).

Unlike last week, where we missed the bus home and I walked home (in the rain), this week we sprinted (jogged with a lot of huffing and puffing, on my part) to the bus stop - and got there 5 minutes early for the bus.
